This painting presented me with a challenge, which was how to juxtapose a flat pattern of shapes with a landscape. I experiment with the push and pull of color and play with the atmospheric effects by altering the contrast and color of the birds.
The palette is inspired by patina on copper, lichen on trees, and spring.
